Richard Dicky Scarlett, January 11, 2012 12:04 PM EST
I met Patrick in 1947.I knew his grandmother, father, aunt and sister when his family lived at Upper West Street,Kingston,Jamaica. I have affectionately known him as "Junior" "Muggy" "Spider Legs" all these names bestowed with love. Junior was a pleasure to be around because of his happy attitude. He was a fine man and it is my pleasure to have known. May he find eternal peace.

Pat was my good buddy; my comrade; my friend. We drank together; shared our war stories; even at times exaggerating our conquests as men often do. I grew to respect his elegant style and brilliance. I counted on his advice and counsel when facing life’s forks in the road. I looked forward to our discussions on world events and big ideas. My life is richer, broader, and deeper because of Pat. I will never forget him.

At the end of the day what we want to know is that we mattered. And, you did.
Paula Dubreuze, January 11, 2012 8:04 PM EST
Condolences to the Family, Friends and Associates. My memories of Pat was always a pleasant one. Always fun and charismatic. Spoke in theory and brilliant in approach. I can hear his deep intense voice as he debates and analyzes the world with Victor. Made me feel proud to be of Caribbean descent. Even if only at a distance, I am greatful for the his counsel and glad our paths crossed. RIP Pat

When I first met Pat,some 57years ago,I was immediately impressed by his infectious humour, flair and composure, rare traits for one so young. However as the friendship grew I began to see his sterling worth as a fierce yet fair competitor, one who was giving and forgiving, kind and compassionate and one who sought to embrace life with all its vicissitudes.I have lost a true and sincere friend who came, made his indelible mark and left us with fond and warm memories which, thankfully may easily be recalled to memory.

No one has ever embodied the term "joie de vivre" as much as Patrick McGlashan did. The ultimate urbane character, Pat was a true friend, always available to put a positive spin on your worst moment. Totally unselfish, he always saw the best in you. At the same time, his supreme self-confidence allowed him to ignore and forgive his detractors. Pat taught me a lot about myself and how to keep striving to achieve my goals, even when the odds appear to be against me. I will always cherish the moments we shared as we did business together, discussed the state of the world, technological developments and sports. I will miss the sound of Pat's voice as he calls me "Dallas!" with a chuckle as he conjures the next witty comment, to be followed by that signature McGlashan laugh. A true Fortis, Pat McGlashan's memory will live on. Fortis cadere cedere non potest. The brave may fall but never yield!

Although he and I never got to spend as much time together as I would of liked, he touched my heart dearly by accomplishing something very important to me. He made my aunt Benita very happy. The love they shared showed it was possible to find your soul mate. I will forever be indebted to him. He will be missed by us all.

Where there is love, any life is too short. But losing a dearly loved husband and father and brother, can cause a loneliness unlike any other. But the sustaining love of family and friends nearby and abroad, will provide you with the fortitude and courage, you’ll need in adjusting to a new life without him. With this assurance, I believe you will be brave in your sorrow, as he would have wanted you to be. To the bereaved family I send my deepest consolations. To Patrick we say, “Farewell then, dear husband, father, brother and friend Enter now into the joy of your Lord.” Requiescat in pace.” (Rest in Peace) Wylton H. “Jimmy” James

Hey Junior what's up? If there was ever a man who didn't know the meaning of the word stress it was you. I nick named you Mr. Goodtime because all my memories of you is of someone who's always laughing & smiling. I can see you all now, all the boys (Dad, uncle Noel, uncle Audley, you and Gilley,(my Bro)just hanging out up here, sitting on the veranda telling stories and just having a good time. I see the ladies too: Granny, Mother, Auntie & Miss Pink hanging out in the kitchen at West Street. Mother is cooking some of her chicken the way I remember it and if we're lucky maybe a Christmas cake too ummm, ummmm now that's some good eats -:) Well Junior, the clan down here is getting smaller & smaller but that's the way it is. If you ever did have any worries, they are all taken care of now. Until next time, say hi to everyone for me. Junior
