Daniel W. Hughes suddenly completed his earthly journey on April 6, 2017 to join his parents Robert and Olga Hughes, his sister Sandra and brother Robert. He is the beloved husband of Margie (nee Margaret Ellen Wilhelm)
He served his country proudly in the United States Navy and wintered over in Operation Deep Freeze (South Pole)
He is a retired Captain of the New Jersey State Police where he served for thirty three years. Dan received his Master's Degree in Student Personnel Services and his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice graduating from Glassboro State and Camden County College.
He was a former District Deputy Grand Master of the 18th Masonic District, Past Worshipful Master of Audubon Parkside Lodge 218 F&AM, Audubon New Jersey, a member of Excelsior Consistory, Crescent Shrine and Honorary member of Collingswood-Cloud, Merchantville, Mozart and Cherry Hill Lodges. He was a member of American Legion Post 0084, Square Circle Sportsmen's Club, Over The Hill Gang, New Jersey State Police Former Troopers Association and 'unofficial' greeter at Collingswood Methodist Church, Collingswood. NJ.
Surviving him are a sister, many nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors.
Memorial service 2:00PM Sunday April 23, 2017 at Collingswood 1st United Methodist Church 201 Dayton Ave. Collingswood, NJ 08108. Interment of ashes with military honors will take place at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
